11/01/24 BEING QUALIFIED

11/01/24 BEING QUALIFIED

Being related to a Bible preacher / teacher does not make a person qualified for ministry any more than being related to a saved person makes them qualified for heaven, or being related to a brain surgeon qualifies a person to do brain surgery.

God's required qualifications for ministry include...
Spiritual life through a living and current relationship with God.
Biblical knowledge.
Doctrinal soundness.
Divine calling and leading.
Spiritual gifts.
Total commitment.
Divine empowering.
Purity of heart and life as a result of being filled with and Holy Spirit.
God's order of male leadership in home and church.

There are other requirements recorded in the New Testament, which deal with moral, relational attitudinal, experiential, social, and behavioral issues.

However, this short list is a good place to start.

God uses natural abilities, life experiences, sound education and training, and cultural astuteness, but these qualities do not take the place of Divine calling and anointing.

You can listen to and trust anyone you choose, but choose wisely. Your soul, your family, and your church can fall victim to ravening wolves in sheep's clothing.

Let me add a few other very important qualification appropriate for this post.
Neither the pastor nor others in church leadership should put approval on anyone for ministry (at any level) quickly.
Spiritual qualifications come before skills, charisma, gifts, knowledge.
Leaders need to be humble servants, putting others before themselves.

Obviously there is much more, but if these few guidelines are followed by leadership, then some major catastrophes will be averted.
