Same example, new application.
Years ago I watched as the car in front of me pulled onto a highway, into the path of an eighteen wheeler, which traveling over 50 mph.
The devastating collision was inevitable.
The vehicle was probably knocked 300 feet away. The driver was literally knocked out of his shoes.
God heard our prayer and spared the man's life.
So many times I see people either drift into the path of sin or deliberately move into the path of destruction.
I watch.
I cry out.
I throw the lifeline.
I sacrifice to save them, but they continue in their rebellion.
In some situations I have watched for decades, as they become more entrenched and as they entangle others in a life of spiritual futility.
I pray.
I witness.
I cry.
I ache.
One day the praying will end, the witnessing will stop, the final tears will fall, the end will be decided forever.
This happens with people who are totally convinced that they are Christians, but God will say the words which will ring in their ears forever, "Depart from me you worker of iniquity, I never knew you."
