11/06/24 PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

11/06/24 PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

Sadness, despair, hopelessness hangs over so many people, oftentimes it is unnecessary.

While at the hospital with a friend yesterday, I talked with different folks. I met folks who were there with loved ones who were suffering from physical problems, which had been avoidable, and then they became treatable, but now their loved one may be beyond medical help.

I met folks who have a family member, whom they had tried to encourage to abandon a detrimental life style, and they had warned the loved one about a dark future if they did not change their behavior, but now their loved one has basically closed the door to recovery.
It is one thing to suffer because of issues beyond our control. It is another to suffer because we chose not to do the right thing for ourselves (whether physical or spiritual). When the doctor comes out to the family and says that they cannot do anymore for the loved one, they have crossed the point of no return. They have closed a door that cannot be opened.
(this post is not about God's ability to deliver, this post is about people making choices that exclude God's leading, enabling and deliverance.)

I think families often suffer more because of medical bad news than the patient, because the patient either does not believe the diagnosis or does not care about their life and well being or because they are not willing to make life changes.

Don't forget, your body is the temple of God. Take care of it the best you can.
