09/03/24 REMEMBER NOT...

09/03/24 REMEMBER NOT...

In the treasure trove of Psalm 25 we come across this beautiful gem.
Psalms 25:7
7 Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O LORD.

It is beautiful because we have times in our youthful days that are disgusting. We do not want God to remember, hold those times against us.

Sadly, we remember too many of those dark, ugly events from our youth and we remember them too graphically. How many times I have wished that I had not known or seen or heard or done things as a youth. Yes, God forgave me, and He delivered me from the guilt, the power and the pollution they created. But the memories still rise up to taunt me, to tempt me, to trouble me.

Sometimes those memories plague folks.
Sometimes those thoughts suddenly pop up and may lead some away from walking in God's light.

Even when we remain faithful, the memories of dark youthful moments cause us pain.

Young people need to draw near to Jesus, set their course, and follow Him as closely as possible. God will not only forgive you of your sins, but He will also lead you away from temptation and deliver you from the evil one. The more wickedness we allow in our lives as young people, the more opportunities Satan has to afflict us later in life.

Even when we have victory over our sins, and though we are forgiven, cleansed and empowered to live in victory, we will still bear the scars of those spiritual conflicts.

Spiritual and mental and emotional scars are not defeats or corruption or weaknesses, but they do cause pain.

It is wonderful that God will not remember the sins of our youthfulness against us, but more blessed is the young believer who lives in the light of God's word. Not only should we not walk in darkness we should walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. We should make good memories during our youth. This will give Satan less opportunity to attack and defeat us and it will give us a foundation of victory.
