05/01/24 WHOLE COUNSEL OF GOD

05/01/24 WHOLE COUNSEL OF GOD

This has to do with, "the whole counsel of God."

Paul told the elders, leaders of the church in Ephesus:
Acts 20:27-32
27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.
31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

I recently addressed the importance of actively digging deeper into pastoral insights, concerning the Bible and Christian living. This is also true concerning other mature and knowledgeable believers.

As a pastor who has made Biblical truth and salvation a major focus in my studies for 60 years, I learned far more than I have time to share. When I face questions or issues in life, I already have the answers hidden away in my heart and mind. I may even take these truths for granted. This is why it is good for parishioners to ask questions. Like an extensive library, the information is available, but not always being presented. Skilled librarians may not have all of the answers to a question on the tip of their tongue, but they know where to find the answers quickly.

Think about how much knowledge and wisdom your parents, grandparents and other older people never shared with folks, because they were never asked. This is especially important when the knowledge and wisdom is spiritual.

I am constantly studying (and have been for 60 years) and I still get excited when I need to articulate the intricacies of Divine truth to other people.

There are more and more false teachers and false doctrines on the scene today and there are relatively very few teachers of truth today. Christians do not have the time to study and acquire the treasures that are already available and waiting to be mined from men and women of God. There are a plethora of things that call for your time and energy, which will prove to be worthless. Be sure that you seek God and His truth with all your heart.
