04/04/24 TWO ENEMIES TODAY

For sixty years, my Christian and ministry studies have included investigation into false doctrines, movements and teachers. I started to list books and authors I have read, but even a short list was too long.

I have witnessed to people ensnared by these various groups and I have led study groups in my pastorates, concerning those cults.

As time passed, new groups came on the scene. There were eastern Religions, Eastern Cults (claiming Christian ties), Mind Science and New Age group. Older and more recognizable cults were going through upheaval, causing them to splinter, with some of their splinter groups claiming to be more Bible oriented than their earlier versions. But they were just the old lies with new faces. There were also cult leaders who practiced the most filthy activity, yet they were considered by many to be Christian groups as well.

As our world was shrinking because of communications, entertainment and travel, foreign cults also appeared in the USA. While Biblical doctrines were being twisted and repackaged by the cults, the obvious enemies of the cross started having more of an influence on the dissatisfied and untrained youth in American Christendom.

An extremely large number of groups have arisen in a very short time. However, two of the most disturbing movements today are erroneously lauded by many to be aligned with historic Christianity. These two movements are what I call, Sinning Religion (based in the false teachings of Augustine, the Reformers and John Calvin), and an extreme and twisted form of Pentecostalism, which I call Sign Seeking Religion (stemming from extreme and false teachings of American Pentecostalism, and so-called Apostolic groups and The Word of Faith movement).

Sinning Religion and New Apostolic Sign Seekers are two of the worst movements today.

No, I did not actually explain the false doctrines of these two groups. I do that on a regular basis in my teaching and preaching and my posting. My purpose in this post is simply to point out that these are two of the false religions (masquerading as Christian groups today), and they are leading many people away from the truth of God's word.
