04/02/24 IT WAS FOR ME
"FOR ME," is the name of a beautiful song written by sister Robin.
The song recounts major steps and benefits of salvation, provided for us personally, through the death and resurrection of Christ.
Consider these points.
Jesus came for me.
Jesus lived for me.
Jesus prayed in the Garden for me.
Jesus suffered and died for me.
Jesus rose again for me.
Jesus intercedes for me.
Sadly, some folks have been misled to believe He prayed in the Garden for Himself.
NO! He prayed in the Garden to escape the impending death He was facing in the Garden.
He had spent eternity planning to die on the cross.
He became a baby in Bethlehem, so that He might die on the cross.
He lived a holy life of obedience, so that He might be the perfect sacrifice on the cross.
He, as a Man, was so overwhelmed with physical and emotional grief that He was about to die in the Garden, before He could make it to the cross.
He was aware of His closeness to death as a Man, therefore it seemed that He may not make it to the cross. At that time, Christ prayed to be delivered from what appeared to be immanent death, which would prohibit Him from dying on the cross.
An angel came and strengthened Him, enabling Him to survive death in the Garden, so that He might die on the cross.
Remember, He prayed to be delivered from death and the Bible says that He was heard. His prayer was answered, which proves that He did not pray to escape the cross, but rather death in the Garden. He prayed for deliverance and He was heard. An angel came to Him and strengthened Him. He did not die in the Garden and as a result, He died on the cross.
He suffered and died and rose again and ascended to heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father, all for me.
There was no lapse in His eternal plan, His eternal will, His earthly determination, His promised mission, His Father's will. God the Father never varied and God the Son did not falter in His salvific plan to die on Calvary.
ALL FOR ME, AND YOU.
