01/06/24 "PERFECT" IS NOT A BAD WORD
When the word "perfect," is used in the Bible it means completeness, it means lacking nothing that it should not lack. It only means inherent, underived perfection when it refers to God. The devil does not want people to be perfect in the way God wants us to be perfect. Satan fights against those who endeavor to be all that God wants them to be. To reject the perfection God wants us to have is to reject His grace.
Another aspect to human perfection is that it means being without wax. When honey was sold in Bible times, it was referred to as perfect if it had no wax. God expects and enables His people to be pure, perfect, without corruption, without wax.
Being perfect in love is not the same as being perfect in power, knowledge or wisdom. We are commanded to be perfect in love, as our heavenly Father is perfect. This is a perfection of quality, not quantity. His capacity is infinite and ours is finite. We cannot have the same immensity of love as God, but our finite capacity should be of the same nature, quality as the perfect love of God. Rather than denying what God clearly commands (be ye perfect in love), we should understand what it means and then enter into that perfection by faith.
Any perfection that God requires is attainable or obtainable because God provides everything we need for life and godliness. When God calls God energizes, enables and equips. In this sense there are some Bible characters referred to as perfect. We must not add-to or take-away from God's word, plan or glory.
Salvation is the miraculous, transforming work of God. To boast in God's grace is not pride. To deny God's power to cleanse and deliver is not humility. In fact it is robbery, since it robs God of His glory.
